ghost tour

Last weekend, Caleb and I went on a ghost tour of the historic district of Huntsville. We had been before, but the tour is divided into different districts, so we got to have a different tour than we had before.

We don't really believe in ghosts, but being creeped out is always fun.  Caleb is a big history buff, so he appreciates the actual stories that go along with the "hauntings."  I just appreciate feeling like I'm on Ghost Hunters.
The guide was dressed up as a scary undertaker, adding another layer of creep to the proceedings.

The tour started at 6, so it was still daylight outside, making things more funny than scary.  Once it got dark, though, things got much creepier.  I'm fairly certain I saw a ghostly shape in the window of an abandoned house... but, as Caleb informed me, it was probably just a reflection in the glass.

If there's a ghost tour close to you, I highly recommend you take it! It's tons of creepy fun and you'll learn a lot about your city :)

the wedding post

All of these photos were taken by Warren Peters and  family.  If you live in the North Alabama/Tennessee area and would like the Peters to shoot your event, email me and I will get you in touch with them!

Next week I'm planning on writing a list of things you'll want to keep in mind when you're planning a wedding - of course you probably know the basics, but I thought I was super prepared and ended up learning a whole lot along the way.  I was going to add it to the end of this post, but I got a little carried away with the pictures, so I'll save it for Monday :) Have a great weekend!

bachelorette weekend festivities

The weekend before the wedding, I had my bachelorette party with a few of my best friends. It wasn't anything over the top; on Friday we went out for a fun dinner and drinks and watched Pitch Perfect (one of my favorite movies), and on Saturday we went out for brunch and boutique shopping downtown. My friend Chelsea is a super talented photographer (and singer - she and my friends Ashley and Katie played the song I walked down the aisle to) and snapped a few pictures of all of us down at the square.  I didn't know about the photo shoot part of the day until we got there, so thankfully I had taken their instructions to dress cute seriously!

my dress: express (17 dollars at TJ Maxx!)

It was a great weekend! I love all these girls; they are such blessings in my life, and they were so helpful with all of the wedding stuff.

carnival!

Oh, the fair. It is quite the cross section of humanity, especially down here in Tennessee.
But even though you will question what on earth encouraged people to make the outfit choices they did before arriving, its a whole lot of fun.
So we grabbed some friends, off-roaded in the tiny Hyundai (we should have taken Caleb's Jeep), found a parking spot in a mud hole, and proceeded to that mecca of ferris wheels and sno cones.

CALEB WON ME A UNICORN.

We also watched a pig race.  I personally think pigs are adorable (the little kind, not the huge tusked, wild boar-like ones), so that was fun.  There was a tractor pull going on, but we stayed away from that.  I do NOT understand tractor pulls, and I don't necessarily want to.
There was a DJ working the Himalaya, and we're pretty sure we heard him say "Get naked" at one point.  We departed the Himalaya soon after.
Fair season is fun because its the last hurrah of summer, and I don't know about you guys, but I am super psyched for fall. Cardigans and apple cider are on the brain around here!
