diy nature mobile

I've always loved the look of decorations made from nature.  Wood, stone, and houseplants are my preferred way of decorating my home.  We haven't been able to get to the plant part, but I have big plans!

I wanted to make a dreamcatcher over the weekend, but when I went to the craft store I was unable to find a wooden hoop, so I decided to make a mobile instead!

I used a wooden craft stick for the bar and fishing line to hang it up.  As for the actual "mobile" parts, I used a collection of beads and cord that I already had as well as scraps of lace, reclaimed leather, and feathers,

As far as what you want to hang from your mobile, that's really up to you!  I used the leather to make leaves and hung quartz beads with cord.  I hung feathers with pieces of a lace necklace that I didn't wear anymore, and hung one with a scrap of beaded chain that came from a broken necklace.

I hung it next to the door in the bedroom, and I'm loving it.  Corny as it sounds, it just looks peaceful.
Here's some resources for collecting supplies for your own mobile:

wedding diy mini-post

Don't worry, more of these are coming! Mom and I have DIY-ed our little hearts out and I am so proud of all that we've made!
This is one of our projects - we went and got pallets from a warehouse in town, and used white paint to make a sign that points guests towards our venue!  It's a farm that's kinda off the beaten path, so signs were a necessity.

We found some cute bird stencils in the crafts section and added those, since birds are our theme!
The best part of this is it was completely free - the pallets didn't cost anything, and the white paint we already had from painting the garage earlier in the summer.
If your wedding venue is difficult to find, these are a cute and cost-effective way of making sure your guests don't get lost!

DIY Fringe T

I've been seeing fringed t-shirts all over the place (oh hey Coachella) and I really like them, but I also have no money to spend. So I decided to take and old V-neck and make one of my own!

I definitely have a theme with the V-neck upcycling lately.
Put on whatever shirt you're using and make a little pen mark where you want your fringe to end.  Once you make the first cut there, use it as a guide to get all the fringe on the same level.  I cut mine up to my hip.

If you want to leave it like this, you can and its cute! But I got a little crafty and tied the ends up in a pattern.  It also makes the shirt a little shorter, since this one is huge and almost covered my shorts.

Yippy! Hope you enjoyed the simplest tutorial in the history of blogging.
