sunday stye with Ashley

This is my friend Ashley.  We've been friends since high school and became best friends in college.  In addition to being unbearably beautiful, Ashley is super smart - she's a mechanical engineering major. Sheesh.
She's also super stylish, as evidenced by this post.

fringe + crochet

If I find something with fringe on it, chances are quite high that I will buy it.
There was a top just like this one for about 200 dollars in a local boutique that I had been wanting for almost six months, but there was no way I could bring myself to pay that much for it. One day, on Pinterest, I clicked through to a cute little site called Chicwish.  Then the heavens opened, the angels sang, and I found the top from the boutique's doppleganger... for 35 dollars.
There was many a happy dance that day.

Tribal Tank

I was at TJ Maxx (It seems like I live there, right) and found this tribal tank and I needed it in my life.  I had this skirt in mind when I bought it, but I've worn it with shorts and skinny jeans and I love it with all of them!  It's actually made from this sweater-like materiel so I know that it will transition really well to fall with boots and a jacket.

Macrame Wedges

I was cruising Goodwill for a DIY project that will make an appearance sometime next week... when I found these.

YEAH BUDDY.
There are multiple things that are remarkable about this purchase.
1. I'm pretty sure I begged my mom for these exact shoes at some point in 6th grade.
2. They were my size, which is size giant.

So you better believe I snatched them up.
Are they practical? Not at all.
Are they super cute? A resounding yes.
Will I wear them? Absolutely.  I may totter around like a T-Rex, but I will wear them. And I'll look adorable while I'm standing still.
Here's one option I'm wearing them with:

Happy Friday!

Let's Get Ethereal

My love for neutrals continues.  This outfit has lots of layers, but they're light.  I figured I would go ahead and experiment with it before it turns July and gets stupid hot around here.
A couple things:
I'm parting my hair in the middle now.  Not a huge change, but I like it!  I'm currently trying to decide if I want to cut my bangs again before the wedding...
I haven't had my nails painted in ages because washing dishes at the coffee shop strips off polish anyways, but today I put on glitter nail polish and I feel better.
Caleb has been in training 3 hours away for 3 weeks and has only been able to be home on weekends, but this is his last week and I can't wait for him to be home regularly again!

Striped Skirt + Tank = Socially Acceptable PJs

This is the most comfortable outfit I own.  It's perfect for traveling or a long day at work because it's super cute but feels like I'm wearing pajamas.

Keep It Simple

I bought this dress from Pick Your Plum (for 17 bucks!) about a month ago, and it is super comfy. Maxi dresses are my favorite because its like socially acceptable PJs in public.  Adding a big necklace makes it less blanket-like and more fancy.
Pick Your Plum has serious deals everyday, on everything from craft supplies to jewelry and home decor. Click the link to the right to see what they have going on today, and you should sign up to get notified on their deals, because they only offer everything for one day!

Lace Top

I have been honeymoon shopping like a madwoman, and I've turned up some really cute summery stuff, like this top.

Sorry posting has been so spotty lately; the wedding is fast approaching and I have so much to do, and work has been kicking my butt.
Have a happy Tuesday!

Thrifted

Caleb and I just kind of wandered around town on Saturday and enjoyed having the day off.  Since it was the first Saturday of the month, Goodwill had half off everything. Can't pass that up!
I restrained myself and only got 3 things (for less than 10 bucks!) and I'm pretty excited about all of them!

Cropped Tank

I loved the color of this top, and it's super comfy and swingy - great for wearing with high-waisted stuff.
Which brings me to:

High-Waisted Shorts

These are probably my favorite. They fit really well, which is awesome to find when you're thrift shopping since there's only one of everything!  I'll be wearing these all summer.

Floral Mug

This guy was 50 cents!  Our mug cabinet is slowly being filled. Good thing, too, with our continuous consumption of hot beverages.

Printed Shorts

I bought these last weekend and I love them! They're super comfortable, which is my number one priority when shorts shopping - tight shorts are the absolute worst.

What I'm Loving Lately

Summer is the best time for fun accessories  in my opinion.  You can make the argument for winter because of scarves and things, but the function of winter accessories is to keep warm. The function of summer accessories is to be cute.
These are the accessories I'm loving lately for summer!

I may be late to the party on this one, but these are perfect for days I don't wash my hair and to keep my awkwardly-growing-out bangs out of my eyes.  I guess you can wear any headband as a wrap, but I like the ones that look like they're knotted in the front.

I've seen these all over the place and loved them, so when I found a pack on sale at Claire's I jumped on it!  I'm a ring girl, so any way to have some extra ring real estate on my hands is a plus.  These are easy to wear (which surprised me) and out of the ordinary.  Word of caution: I burned myself while wearing it because it got caught on the tag of my tea bag and pulled it out of my mug and onto my arm. So yeah, know that.

I hoard sunglasses like nobody's business.  I mean, I wear them all year, but in the summer they're actually a cute accessory, rather than what's shielding the bit of my face not covered by a scarf or hat from the cold. The top picture is my usual pair, standard wayfarers from Anthro.  The bottom are some cat eyes that I got for cheap. That's what's fun about sunnies; get your sturdy usual pair, and then you can get fun shapes for like 5 bucks.

thrifted

I've been a big fan of the Mexico/tribal inspired prints and accessories that are coming out for summer.  The shoes at the top are mine that I thrifted, the other stuff is on my wishlist.  Those leggings from Stylelately would look awesome with a coral tank in the summer and a chunky neutral sweater in winter and I want them SO BAD.  And don''t even get me started on that dress, I've had my eye on it forever. If only I didn't have bills. Sigh.
